The CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies began over 30 years ago, as the Joseph S. Murphy Institute, as a partnership between the City University of New York and New York City labor unions. It has since grown into one of the most prestigious and well-regarded programs of its kind, continuing to serve the higher education needs of working adults and traditional-aged students in their pursuit of advancement within the framework of labor, urban, social, economic, and political issues.
